An experiment conducted by a magazine had a group divided into two teams. Participants of one team were given two tablespoons of coconut oil every day and the others were given soybean oil. The results showed that both teams actually lost weight but only those that consumed coconut oil actually experienced a decrease in the waistline. Coconut is high in saturated fat. More than half of it is from lauric acid, which helps fight bacteria and it also helps with cholesterol.
Avocados are delicious and nutritious. They have been victims of some bad press due to misinformation. The truth is that an avocado does have a significant amount of fat but most of it is unsaturated and helpful to control cholesterol levels. It is important to limit your avocado intake to a quarter or half of one in a day.
