Walking: The Easiest And Effective Way To Good Health

Walking or ambulation is the most locomotion gaits amongst the human kind. Besides performing, the basic transportation of the body from one place to another walking is also full of health and fitness benefits. Often underrated as an exercise, walking is one of the easiest ways to stay fit and in shape. The most important perks of walking are, it does not require any special instruction to learn any new technique, can be done literally anywhere & anytime and always comes in free of cost.

Brisk Walking regularly can help us to improve our both mental and physical fitness. It improves our physical stamina and energy, increases life expectancy and helps in weight and stress reduction. Walking helps in improving the overall physical fitness and reduces the risk of various diseases like heart diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, gut problems, osteoporosis, obesity etc. The mental fitness is also enhanced by walking like increase in concentration, memory skills, learning ability and abstract reasoning. Studies have shown that walking reduces the risk of dementia as well as Alzheimer's.

There are many variation of walking, which is scrambling, snowshoeing, Nordic walking, pedestrianism, race walking and power walking or fit walking. A vigorous long walk in the US is often referred to as hiking. To obtain an optimum benefit from walking the speed must be kept near to 4 km/hour or 2.5 mph. The speed increases to 7-9 km/hour for power walking. It is advised to take at least 10,000 steps in a day for ideal benefits.
